Automotive mechanics

This course aims to provide knowledge and skills in the field of light vehicle mechanics. You will gain skills in the automotive industry, specifically in the area of mechanics and light engines.

This course is designed for light vehicle mechanics in the automotive industry who want to develop their skills and improve their employment prospects.

You will learn how to apply safe work practices, test and service batteries and carry out repairs to single electrical circuits. This course will help you develop your skills in servicing and repairing engine management systems, and teach you about inspecting and servicing engine cooling systems.

This course also covers inspecting and servicing of manual and automatic transmissions, how to repair steering and suspension systems, and the detailed servicing of hydraulic brake system, engines and fuel systems.

Entrance Requirements

  • Senior high school equivalent to Australian Year 11 level AND
  • IELTS overall score of 5.5 (general or academic) OR
  • Complete General English program at Menzies to Upper Intermediate level OR
