Certificate III in Dental Assisting

Certificate III in Dental Assisting course at Menzies Institute of Technology provide knowledge and skills needed to provide care for dental clients and assist other dental workers for oral health care procedures.Dental Assisting is a wonderful career with many options for advancement and qualified Dental Assistants are highly sought after in dental clinics and hospitals.

The training provided at Menzies is predominately hands-on and provides you with the skills and knowledge required by the modern Dental Assistant. Students do not necessarily need to be employed at the Dental Clinic/Hospital to be able to undertake this course.

Work Experience and Practical Placement is compulsory for all students to successfully complete the qualification.

All of the training and practical demonstrations are held at the dental clinic facilities at the Menzies Institute of Technology.

You can study this course together with Certificate III in Dental Laboratory Assisting to be an all-rounded Dental Assistant and Dental Lab Technician. This will provide you with more skills and ability to do laboratory work. This would be a great advantage over other dental assistants!

Students will also have opportunity to study the Certificate IV in Dental Assisting and/or Diploma of Dental Technology after completion of dental assisting to upskill and embark on an advanced career as dental radiographer, dental/oral hygienist or dental technician.

Practical and Hands-On Learning
There are 3 dental clinic facilities at Menzies Institute with a total of 15 dental chairs. We have 2 demonstration dental clinics where you will practice your skills and knowledge in a safe and simulated environment. The Institute also operates its own private dental clinic (Menzies Dental Clinic www.menziesdental.com.au) where qualified and experienced dentists perform general and cosmetic dentistry for public patients. The Menzies Dental Clinic also houses the latest digital x-ray technology for taking OPGs and Lateral Cephs.

All students will be given an opportunity to volunteer at the Menzies Dental Clinic and to experience the “real clinic environment with real patients”. This allows students to build up their knowledge, confidence and ties in all aspects of the course that they have learnt.
