The Diploma of Nursing qualification encompasses the application of knowledge and skills required for registration as an Enrolled Nurse in Melbourne and throughout Australia. The combination of core and elective units meets the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia’s requirements for registration as an Enrolled Nurse.
The course focuses on developing a sustainable base of enterprise-specific skills and strategies for effective nursing. As a result training is carried out in a variety of clinical practice settings.
The School of Nursing has a full range of physical resources including a simulation centre, classrooms, tutorial rooms, small group learning spaces and space for private study, computer laboratories and library located at the Menzies Institute Simulation Centre for Healthcare Education (SCHE).
The course addresses the following fields of nursing – acute and sub-acute nursing, aged care, mental health care, palliative care, rehabilitation nursing, encouraging teamwork, communication and research skills, and is delivered by a combination of classroom, theory, laboratory and simulated practice and professional experience placements.
