Entry requirement

Academic: Completion of senior high school or equivalent to the Australian Year 12 level of education
 
English Language Proficiency: An English Language proficiency level from one of the below:

    • IELTS band score of 5.5 or equivalent internationally recognized exam result in line with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) regulations OR
    • Satisfactorily completion of 5 weeks of the Institute’s General English at Upper Intermediate Level (achieved 80% attendance rate) OR
    • TOEIC 605(L&R), TOEFL 513(Paper Based), TOEFL 183(CBT), TOEFL 65(IBT) OR
    • Completed secondary studies in your home country equivalent to an Australian Year 12 qualification from an English language speaking country OR
    • If deemed necessary by Menzies, the prospective student currently in Australia would be required to attend an interview with the Marketing or Admissions Officer and complete the English Proficiency Test and pass to a satisfactory level (Upper Intermediate or above)

 

Age of Commencement: Menzies Institute of Technology will not accept overseas students who are under 18 years of age at the time of commencement of the course.
 
Interview If deemed necessary by Menzies, International students currently in Australia are required to attend an interview with an admissions officer or complete the English Proficiency Test and pass to a satisfactory level (Upper Intermediate or above)

Step 3: Issue Letter of Offer (LOO) and International Student Acceptance Agreement form. Students from AL 3&4 countries required to undergo preliminary visa assessment (PVA). Please refer to www.immi.gov.au
Step 4: Ensure all conditions (if any) on Letter of Offer (LOO) have been met.
Step 5:To accept your offer and apply for electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCOE), you will need to:1. Send the signed copy of International Student Acceptance Agreement form to info@menzies.vic.edu.au

2. Make your first payment as stated on Letter of Offer (LOO) via electronic remittance, credit card or bank deposit.

Step 9: Make travel arrangements. Students must attend Orientation Day as stated on Letter of Offer (LOO) Documents to bring on Orientation Day: – eCOE- Letter of Offer

Students who choose to study at Menzies Institute of Technology will have the pleasure of learning in a safe, friendly and relaxing environment in and around the buzzing city of Melbourne, where public transport, shopping, entertainment, cafés and restaurants are within easy walking distance. Some of the famous Melbourne landmarks that are a short walk or tram ride from our campuses include Victoria Market, Federation Square and the Yarra River. There are also a host of museums and galleries as well as the annual calendar of festivals which Melbourne is famous for.

Life in Melbourne
Victoria’s stylish capital, Melbourne, has often been called “the world’s most liveable city”. With a warm climate in summer and mild winters, Melbournians can participate in outdoor activities all year round. With affordable accommodation, a very friendly, multi-cultural population, caring social services, excellent restaurants and breathtaking scenery, Melbourne is truly an amazing place to live, study and work.

There are also many prestigious world events that occur throughout the year. Events such as:

– Formula One Australian Grand Prix
– Melbourne International Arts Festival
– Melbourne Food & Wine Expo

You can feel the excitement of these events when you are in Melbourne. All these and numerous local festivals, sporting and cultural events are accessible to everyone.

Living Costs in Melbourne
International students need to meet their living expenses while studying in Australia. International students generally will need AUD$15,000 – AUD$18,000 per year to meet their living expenses. Students with an adult dependant will need an extra AUD$4,000 – AUD$6,000 while students with dependent children should budget an additional AUD$3,000 – AUD$5,000 per child per year.

These living cost estimates are based on 2 people sharing an unfurnished two bedroom apartment, flat or house. They are not inclusive of tuition fees.

Accommodation
Menzies is happy to help students arrange their initial accommodation in Melbourne. We recommend Homestay Accommodation. You will be living with an Australian family and it is a fantastic way to adjust to life in Melbourne. You will have your private single room with a bed, desk, bed linen and towels. Three meals per day are provided if you wish. All Homestays are arranged by Australian Homestay Network which is an organisation that has been approved by the Australian Government.

Alternatively, you can arrange for other forms of accommodation such as hotel/guest houses, rental house or shared accommodation. Below is a table that compares the different types of accommodation available to students in Melbourne

Students will live with a local family or resident and this option is a great way for students to learn and experience the Australian lifestyle. Students will be provided with: – guidance on settling into their new community- understanding the basics of Australian culture- information on how to use public transport, internet banking and personal safety tips- clean furnished private single room and meals
Hostels/Guest Houses - Negotiable A$350 ~ 560 Hostels are usually run by organisations such as Youth Hostels Australia (YHA) and the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) where students share kitchen and bathroom facilities.
